Playing Feels Like a Test, Not a Joy

  • Performing makes you anxious.

WANT TO KNOW ABOUT ME

You don’t have to be a genius to improvise

I studied classical piano in Berlin, but over time, the pressure to play perfectly took the joy out of music for me. I was stuck in perfectionism, anxious on stage, and eventually I gave up performing altogether. It wasn’t until I heard an improvised organ concert that something clicked. I realized music could be free, spontaneous, and joyful again. I studied organ improvisation and found a new way to express myself — one that finally felt right.

Today, I help others find that same joy. Many musicians lose their passion because of pressure, fear of mistakes, or rigid training that limits self-expression. Through Improstation, I teach improvisation to beginners and advanced musicians alike — not by making it more complex, but by making it more accessible. I focus on practical tools, clear steps, and playful exploration. You don’t need to be a prodigy to improvise. You just need the right support, a bit of courage, and the freedom to reconnect with the reason you started making music in the first place.

Course Levels

I offer courses for every stage of your musical journey — from complete beginners to advanced improvisers.

Level 0 – Complete Beginner

You have no prior experience with music or any instrument.
You’ve never played piano or organ, and terms like chordscale, or key are completely new to you.
This level gently introduces you to the world of music — perfect for anyone who wants to discover music for the first time and enjoy the beauty of creating sounds, melodies, and harmonies at the keyboard.

Level 1 – Experienced Player, New to Improvisation

You already play piano or organ, perhaps for several years, and you’re comfortable reading classical music.
You have some basic knowledge of music theory — you know what chords and keys are, and can recognize intervals.
However, you’ve never improvised before.
This level helps you take your first steps in improvisation, learning how to move beyond the written notes and begin expressing yourself freely at the keyboard.

Level 2 – Developing Improviser

You can already improvise simple pieces and understand the foundations of harmony.
You may have completed the Foundations of Improvisation course or have equivalent experience.
You are familiar with basic harmonic patterns and models, and can harmonize simple chorales.
At this level, you’ll strengthen your ability to improvise fluently in the classical style, gaining confidence and musical freedom while expanding your harmonic vocabulary.

Level 3 – Confident Improviser

You can improvise preludesharmonize chorales, and create short forms with ease.
You understand harmonic and contrapuntal models thoroughly and have experience with variation and figuration techniques.
This level is designed for those who want to master complex improvisational forms such as fugues, explore advanced figuration, and reach a professional level of fluency and expression in classical improvisation.
